What does the death of Jesus accomplish? Jesus demonstrates God’s Upside-Down Kingdom until the very end, even as he hangs on the cross. He speaks forgiveness to his executors. He offers hope to the criminal at his side. He looks out for his friends. And when he dies, innocent and alone, his death, as promised, is not the end but a new way forward for all humanity.
