“What does Afroterpretation look like in practice?” The Pinkster Stroll was the first Living History or reenactment that I developed based on an Afroterpretation model. Afroterpretation is also Black designed, led, and run. My goal was to create an event for modern Black New Yorkers to connect with the experiences of enslaved and free Africans in 18th and 19th c NY on their was to a Pinkster Celebration through which they would start traditions that builds community, and center their own spiritu
