Found some new growth of Hemlock growing in a wild area I was exploring while looking for young nettles. Hemlock (Conium maculatum) is a deadly toxic member of the carrot family and although it superficially looks similar to some edible members of the family, it is quite distinctive compared to them. Key features to look out for are a) Hemlock is hairless, b) red blotching on the stems (but note when it’s VERY young this might not have developed yet) and c) it smells “musty”/unpleasant. Remember
