This bonnet - or bunnet - was preserved in peat for over 250 years. It was found as part of a rather shocking discovery on a moor near Stornoway, the Isle of Lewis. Brothers John and Donald Macleod were digging into a peat-bank in 1964 when they encountered a mysterious burial..
