This is how I made my stair treads ⬇️ I cut a strip of flooring 1 & 5/8” wide with 2 edges beveled at 45 degrees. This is the front of the nosing. Then I cut a strip 1 & 1/4” wide with 1 beveled edge and one straight cut edge. This is the underside of the nosing (and how much it will overhang). The top of the nosing is 4” wide with 1 beveled edge and I kept the tongue on the other edge of the floor board.
