Before a gemstone can be faceted, it must be perfectly aligned. In this step, we gently heat the dopping wax and slightly warm the stone so both can bond together securely. This process is called dopping — fixing the stone onto a dop stick to control the center point and cutting angle during faceting. If the stone is not centered properly, every facet that follows can go off balance. Even a tiny mistake here can affect symmetry, brilliance, and final value. Proper alignment = better light return
