When you rummage around in the fridge for snacks—again... After birth, a kangaroo joey feeds and matures inside the pouch. But what happens when they’re too big to fit? Mother kangaroos can raise two joeys at a time, nine to 12 months apart, because they have four teats within the pouch. While the newborn, jellybean-sized joey is attached to one of the three smaller teats, the older sibling, who has stretched its teat as it grew, is able to continue nursing until it is around 18 months old. #Zoo
