Their last gold medal came in 2012 in Calgary with a 1-0 overtime win over the Russians. "It feels good, " said Swedish captain Axel Sandin Pellikka.

In 2016 in Helsinki, Antti Kalapudas scored the second-period winner as the Finns edged Sweden 2-1. In both those cases, the winning team went on to capture the gold medal.

5 days ago · Sweden #25 Otto Stenberg, LW (St. Louis Blues): Stenberg was tremendous today, scoring the first two Swedish goals.He has a great shot release and was one of the best two-way threats for the Swedes, as well. I like how he can be deceptive on the rush – often making opponents think he’s about to make a pass before firing a shot in. Sweden needed him to perform today and he delivered.

The first period was back and forth for a bit until Zeb Forsfjall opened the scoring for Sweden on a beauty snipe to beat Linards Feldbergs. Buffalo Sabres prospect Anton Wahlberg scored his fourth goal of the tournament to give Sweden the 2-0 lead. The second period was a thrill.

Dec 4, 2024 · After Hockey Canada and USA Hockey announced their preliminary rosters for the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship on Monday, the Swedish Ice Hockey Association today announced their initial 24-player roster for the tournament. As always, this year’s iteration of the WJC kicks off on Dec. 26 and will be held in Ottawa.
