Cregger's follow-up to "Barbarian" offers an even more ambitious cross between domestic horror and sketch comedy.

On top of the mechanics of the story, Cregger displays an athletic, fluid filmmaking style that is impressive. The camera is often constantly moving, especially in the breathless finale, though some may be frustrated that some questions remain unanswered at the end.

One of this year’s best films is an intelligent study on youth not in revolt but as pawns subject to ancient forces. Oh, and it’s scary as hell.
