WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Tuesday questioned President Donald Trump’s motives for issuing an executive order that calls for banning transgender troops from serving in the U.S. military, describing a portion of the directive as “frankly ridiculous.”

A judge pressed the Justice Department on a Trump executive order directing the military to stop using preferred pronouns and argued there was no link between pronouns and military readiness.

A judge grappled with whether to block Trump's order to bar transgender people from serving in the military, which would reverse the Biden era policy.
