Two historic franchises gear up for a primetime clash at Fenway Park on Saturday night, as the Los Angeles Dodgers get set to take on the Boston Red Sox in the second game of a three-game weekend series. These two teams opened up their weekend set on Friday night.
After being out of the lineup for two straight games against the Red Sox, Mookie Betts got a major update on his status with the Dodgers.
“He was wearing a cut-off shirt," Cora said. “And when he left, I told them, ‘He looks stronger.'" Cora has seen more arm strength from 32-year-old Story as the season has progressed. He also has seen him play better defensively on balls hit to his left.
The Red Sox are back at Fenway Park Saturday night for the second contest of a three-game set against the Dodgers.
Roberts added that Betts was home in Nashville before he planned to join the team back at Fenway Park. Betts won his first World Series title in a year to remember for the Red Sox back in 2018, when Boston defeated the Dodgers in five games. He won American League MVP that season among a slew of individual accolades.
Lefty masher Romy Gonzalez will start at second base and bat cleanup for the Red Sox against future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw (4-1, 3.27 ERA) on Saturday.
