New York Yankees Hall of Fame closer Mariano Rivera and his wife Clara have been accused in a bombshell lawsuit of covering up the sexual abuse of a minor in their home and a 2018 summer camp connected to an Assemblies of God church they founded in 2009 known as the Refugio De Esperanza or the Refuge of Hope.

Former New York Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera, along with his wife, said they were not involved in hiding the repeated sexual assault of a minor.

The Yankees pitcher and his wife were named in a suit that says a young girl was assaulted at their home and at properties connected to a church they helped found. The couple’s lawyer called the allegations “false.
