The Fourth of July proved to be chaotic for some celebrating the holiday on Georgia’s lakes and other waterways this year. According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR), nearly 20 people were hurt and at least one person died during 12 different water-related incidents across the state.

Cell phone video from the scene showed black smoke and heavy flames billowing into the air from the boat explosion on popular Lake Lanier north of Atlanta.
