American Express Co. (AXP), a bank holding company, on Friday reported an increase in net profit for the fourth quarter. The company
American Express plans to raise its quarterly dividend by 17%, to 82 cents from 70 cents, starting with its first-quarter declaration. The new payout, equal to $3.28 a year, would represent an annual yield of about 1% based on Thursday's closing price of $325.87, up from about 0.86%.
