A federal appeals court on Friday left in place a mid-January deadline in a federal law requiring TikTok to be sold or face a ban in the United States, rejecting a request made by the company to halt enforcement until the Supreme Court reviews its challenge of the statute.

It's not clear if the Supreme Court will take up the case. If the law is not overturned, both TikTok and its parent, ByteDance, have said that the popular app will shut down by Jan. 19.

TikTok will likely ask the Supreme Court to make a final decision on the ban. Stay or not, you won’t need to delete the app.
