Police in Kansas City, Missouri, are hoping the public can help detectives locate the driver of an SUV that struck and killed a pedestrian Monday night.

Four people were killed after a massive fire engulfed a Missouri apartment complex Wednesday. The fire started shortly after 6 a.m. at the Indy Ridge Apartments in Independence, east of Kansas City.

Missouri state law currently does not guarantee compensation for everyone exonerated after a wrongful conviction. A new bill seeks to change that by expanding eligibility and increasing payouts.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas announced on Thursday, Jan. 23, that after 31 years of service, City Auditor Douglas Jones is expected to retire. His last day will be Jan. 31.
