Hunter edged Boise State tailback Ashton Jeanty by 214 votes, the closest race since 2009, when Alabama’s Mark Ingram beat Stanford’s Toby Gerhart by 28 points. Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel finished third, followed by Miami quarterback Cam Ward.

For Heisman voter Nicole Auerbach, this was a tough ballot to fill out. But the right player lifted the trophy when all was said and done.

Hunter joins the late Rashaan Salaam, who won the Heisman in 1994 with a 2,000-yard rushing season, as CU’s only Heisman winners.
