Democrat-backed Susan Crawford won the closely-watched Wisconsin Supreme Court race, the most expensive judicial election in U.S. history.

Spending in the Wisconsin Supreme Court election has passed $90 million as of Monday, according to a tally by the Brennan Center for Justice.

Liberal candidate Susan Crawford defeated Elon Musk-backed conservative judge Brad Schimel to preserve a 4-3 liberal majority in the Wisconsin Supreme Court, in a contest that became the most expensive state Supreme Court race in the country’s history, with nearly $100 million spent on campaigning.

Meanwhile, Crawford called the 2022 U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade that struck down the constitutional right to abortion "wrong." As an attorney, she represented Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin in fighting a 2013 Wisconsin law that sought to limit abortion. Read more about each candidate's views on abortion here.
