Drake Maye credited two veteran Patriots mentors during his rookie season, and said he's spoken with Mike Vrabel.
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye will have an almost entirely new coaching staff leading him on the New England sideline in his second NFL season
New England Patriots defensive coordinator Terrell Williams opened up about why he chose to come to the Patriots organization in a video posted on the team's social media account. Williams served as the defensive line coach for the Detroit Lions last season.
Drake Maye and Mike Vrabel are already hitting it off. A late addition to the Pro Bowl games, Maye is down in Orlando this week and conducted his first interview since the season ended with Sirius XM. Since Maye last spoke publicly, Jerod Mayo was fired as Patriots coach and Vrabel was brought in to replace him.
I think the biggest thing is he’s been a head coach, and he knows what it’s like. So (I’m) excited to get up to New England and get things going.”
The Miami Dolphins will be facing two new head coaches in the AFC East in the 2025 season: the New England Patriots’ Mike Vrabel and New York Jets’ Aaron Glenn. Interestingly, both coaches are former players for the respective teams that hired them.
New England Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf opened up about working with new coach Mike Vrabel for the first time. Both are in Mobile for the Senior Bowl with the team scouting the top college talent for the 2025 NFL draft.
After the Patriots let go of Belichick and Pellegrino, Vrabel has worked quickly to bring in multiple defensive coaches. Booker coached safeties in Tennessee. The Patriots also added Kevin Richardson II, who was an assistant defensive backs coach at the University of Illinois.
Vrabel has a mix of experience and youth on his Patriots coaching staff, including Doug Marrone, Thomas Brown and Ashton Grant on offense.
Two-time NFL head coach Doug Marrone, who most recently was at Boston College as a Senior Analyst for Football Strategy, is joining the Patriots' coaching staff. Marrone's specific position is TBA. His history/background w/ OL play is notable. (h/t @PatsPro_21, @JPasteris_NFL)
The Patriots also brought Josh McDaniels back to New England for his third stint as the franchise's offensive coordinator. He'll work closely with Maye, and that's another challenge that the quarterback is excited about.
