Two people have died and a further two were missing in the South Korean resort town of Gapyeong on Sunday, after a landslide engulfed houses and flooding swept away vehicles during a period of heavy rainfall.

SEOUL (Reuters) -Five people were missing in the South Korean county of Gapyeong on Sunday as heavy rain hit the country, Yonhap News reported, citing disaster authorities.

Heavy rains in South Korea have killed at least four people and forced over 1,300 to evacuate. Three people were found dead Thursday in a submerged car, a stream, and a flooded basement.

There are reports of multiple people being swept away by flooding in Virginia as tens of millions of people are at risk of dangerous flash floods in pockets of nearly every region of the contiguous United States Friday,

Most of the country was blanketed by yellow rain and thunderstorm warnings, with the Met Office saying this could bring flash flooding, power cuts and disruption to travel. But the flooding forecast for London and south-east England on Saturday morning did not occur.

More rain could be on the way, with an additional half an inch to an inch of rainfall expected in Kansas City.
