California airports are expected to be hard hit by dramatic reduction in flights as the Federal Aviation Administration plans to cut air traffic by 10% at 40 airports to maintain travel safety during the government shutdown.

The passing of Proposition 50 in California essentially negates five new GOP-leaning congressional districts Texas created earlier this year.

The lawsuit from the California Republican Party and several of its leaders argues that the proposed new maps, which Prop 50 now allows the state legislature to vote on, are unconstitutional because they use race as a factor in drawing the new districts.
