The cabinet expansion is taking place 10 days after Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the chief minister for the third time on 5.

Devendra Fadnavis was sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra with Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and NCP chief Ajit Pawar as his deputies on December 5.

While the CM did not provide a specific timeline for the performance review, Deputy CM Shinde stated that his party's ministers would be given two-and-a-half years, with the chance for progression based on performance.
