John Lynch, coach Kyle Shanahan and quarterback Brock Purdy have made it clear that they intend to reach an agreement with the hope that it will be done sooner than later.

Lynch made it clear the 49ers are fully committed to keeping Brock Purdy, who is eligible for a contract extension immediately. Purdy had 3,864 passing yards and 20 touchdowns in 2024, but San Francisco missed the playoffs this year after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl last season.

Purdy is eligible for an extension now that Week 18 has ended, giving the 49ers a little more than four months to hammer out a deal that won’t be easy to navigate after the QB’s struggles in his third season.
