Kim, who will be 25 come the Milan Cortina Games, can become the first snowboarder to win the same Olympic event three times, if she isn’t beaten to it by Austrian Anna Gasser (big air) and Czech Ester Ledecka (parallel giant slalom).

Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina will showcase 116 events, iconic venues, and top American athletes, including Lindsey Vonn, Ilia Malinin, and Chloe Kim. Challenges include venue renovations and logistical hurdles.

Next year's Olympics might be called the Milan Cortina Games but it will actually be staged across a large swath of northern Italy spread over five different venue clusters.
