State of emergency in Venezuela as Trump claims to have ‘captured’ Maduro, wife after US airstrikes
The US launched early morning airstrikes in Venezuela’s capital city Caracas, as well as the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira.
( The Hill) – President Trump said that United States personnel captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, who were flown out of the country as the U.S. military carried out “large scale” strike inside the nation in the early morning hours on Saturday, an operation that came after a monthslong standoff between the two leaders.
American allies including France objected to the military incursion into a sovereign state and the capture of the Venezuelan president as a violation of international law.
