Fritz was last in the winner’s circle in 2024 when he won a 250-level grass title in Eastbourne. Seeded second in Stuttgart, Fritz weathered a mid-match rain delay to return to the Top 4 and win a fifth straight match against a top seed playing at home in one hour and 24 minutes.
This win marked Zverev’s first appearance in a grass-court final in eight years. The last time he accomplished that was at the ATP 500 event in Halle in 2017, where he lost the championship match to Roger Federer. The year before, the German star also reached the final there but was defeated by Florian Mayer.
