The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning on Friday, Jan. 23, ahead of a weekend storm.
Hamilton County is under a level 2 snow emergency due to heavy snowfall, with hazardous road conditions reported. A winter storm warning is in effect until noon Monday, with total storm accumulations of 9 to 13 inches possible.
On Monday at 12:53 p.m. EST an updated winter storm warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 1 p.m. EST for Cass and Berrien counties.
An ice storm warning remains in effect across much of north Georgia early Monday as dangerously cold temperatures refreeze wet roads, creating slick and hazardous travel conditions during the morning commute.
South Carolina remains in a state of emergency and winter weather advisory as precipitation ends and cold temps are expected to linger through the week.
One to two feet of heavy lake effect snow is expect over the three-day span in parts of Oswego County, which is predicted to see the most persistent lake effect snow bands, forecasters said. Between 8 and 14 inches is possible across northern Cayuga County, southern Jefferson County and western Lewis County.
A winter storm brought record-breaking snowfall to the Cincinnati area, with some locations receiving over a foot of snow. An extreme cold warning is set to take effect, with dangerously low wind chills which can cause frostbite on exposed skin.
