Who made the call for the Commanders to sit Jayden Daniels?
Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels is healthy enough to play, Commanders coach Dan Quinn told us that last week. He said there was no structural damage had occurred to Daniels, the team was determined to let Daniels rest the arm for a week, and then the Commanders would finish with the Eagles, Cowboys, and Eagles.
The penalties were another self inflicted hurdle for the Commanders. Washington was flagged eleven times for 67 yards, and several of those mistakes came at the worst possible moments. Penalties extended Giants drives on defense and wiped out positive plays on offense, preventing the Commanders from fully pulling away.
Washington has been eliminated from playoff contention, but these players could help themselves most during the final three games of the season.
Is Jayden Daniels going to play this week? Latest reports indicate that the Commanders will sit Daniels. Here's the latest injury update:
On Sunday, Washington was able to stay ahead of the chains for long stretches. The Commanders weren’t always successful, but they were able to average nearly four yards a carry and win the time of possession over New York by pounding the ball between the tackles to good effect multiple times.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt ran for a touchdown, fellow rookie Jaylin Lane returned a punt 63 yards to the end zone and the Washington Commanders ended their season-derailing skid at eight games by beating the similarly woeful New York Giants 29-21.
Alongside quarterback Jayden Daniels, the Commanders won't have left tackle Laremy Tunsil on the field vs. the Eagles.
