PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Prosecutors in Maine said Monday they will seek to try a 17-year-old charged with murder in the death of a paddleboarder as an adult.

Under Maine law, the court must consider a number of factors when deciding if a juvenile should be tried as an adult: The safety of the public. The juvenile's age, maturity and prior record. "Do they have any history in the system?” Webb said. “What's their living situation like? What's their general attitude toward life like?"
