MACON, Ga. — The 2025 hurricane season began on June 1st for the Atlantic, and has so far been off to a quiet start. The National Hurricane Center has only watched one area of potential development off of the eastern coast of the United States, and this region did not come to fruition.

The National Hurricane Center is “fully staffed” and any suggestion that the Trump administration fired meteorologists at the National Weather Service is “fake news,” “preposterous and silly,” Commerce Sec.

All forecast models have some kind of bias, so AI is being used to help correct them to give forecasters a more accurate idea of where a tropical system might go.

With the hurricane season now underway, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is continuing the trend from last year by predicting another above-average Atlantic hurricane season.
