The U.S. military is preparing to activate hundreds of National Guard troops in Washington, D.C., according to a U.S. official, following President Trump’s threats of a federal takeover of the nation’s capital.

A federal judge is hearing arguments on whether troops deployed this summer by the Trump administration to LA violated the Posse Comitatus Act.

The White House increased the presence of federal law enforcement in Washington over the weekend, deploying 450 officers across all four quadrants of the city Saturday and on Sunday in high-traffic areas, as Trump has ramped up threats of taking control of D.C. and its local police force.
