Mexico defeats the Dominican Republic 3-2 in its Gold Cup opener, but fans in attendance were on edge because of recent ICE raids targeting the Latino community.

Gold Cup kicks off on Saturday, with one of the first matchups of the tournament being between two CONCACAF giants, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Mexico are coming off a 4-2 loss to Switzerland, while Turkiye are a few days removed from a 2-1 win over the U.S. men' national team

Concacaf Gold Cup will take place from June 14 to July 6, pitting 16 teams from North/Central America and the Caribbean region – plus guest nation Saudi Arabia – against each other for the federation's top national team prize.
