Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was named acting administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development on Monday, told lawmakers he plans to review and potentially restructure or abolish parts of USAID.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he is the acting administrator of the United States Agency for International Development after Department of Government Efficiency Chairman Elon Musk announced the Trump administration’s plans to shut the agency down.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was visiting El Salvador on Monday to press a friendly government to do more to meet Trump administration demands for a major crackdown on immigration amid turmoil in Washington over the status of the government’s main foreign development agency.
