Maine State Police Col. William Ross said Davis was experiencing a mental health crisis before the incident, which resulted in the deaths of the suspect’s mother and a woman who worked at two elementary schools in the area.

Maine police say a man killed his mother while they were in a car, and then started shooting at other drivers.

Maine State Police officials say the suspect ultimately shot and killed himself, leaving three people dead in total.
