Officials for the Madrid Open cancelled Monday's play amid a blackout in Spain that impacted the tournament's facilities. The blackout caused a number of logistical problems at Caja Mágica with the scoreboards going dark and the loss of lighting to help fans navigate the venue:

A massive power outage hit Spain and Portugal on Monday, shutting down trains, disrupting air travel and leaving large parts of the countries — including the capital cities of Madrid and Lisbon — in the dark. Power in France's Basque region was also briefly shut down.
