KALAMAZOO, MI — There are a number of ways to celebrate Juneteenth this year in Kalamazoo, with celebrations kicking off Saturday, June 14. The first big community celebration will be hosted by Rootead from 1 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, in Bronson Park, 200 S. Rose St.

Juneteenth, a holiday that was mostly celebrated by Black families in the South, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865.
