Firefighters battling the Franklin Fire in Malibu have gotten a better handle on the destructive wildfire, having had it contained by 35% as of Saturday morning.

Firefighters have made steady progress on the destructive wildfire that erupted Monday, helped by cool weather, higher humidity and the absence of strong winds that fueled the blaze Monday and Tuesday.

California firefighters managed to get the Malibu-area Franklin Fire 30% contained and away from homes on Friday despite its rolling into steep canyon terrain that makes it more difficult to reach.
