The following contains spoilers from the Dec. 15 episode of HBO’s Dune: Prophecy. Ahead of next Sunday’s season finale, HBO’s yet-to-be-renewed Dune: Prophecy dropped a few bombshells — including the mysterious and powerful Desmond Hart’s origins.

Prophecy, Desmond Hart (Travis Fimmel) gets bestowed the rank of “Bashar” by Emperor Javicco Corinno. This has sparked intrigue among viewers, who are already curious about the many mysteries presented to them by the series.

Dune: Prophecy Episode 5 reveals the earliest form of the Sardaukar, with Desmond Hart as their first leader, known as a Bashar. Their armor looks a bit different: instead of the grey armor and helmets we see in the Dune films, they wear blue and black suits with face masks (they look a bit like Mortal Kombat fighters).

The penultimate episode of Dune: Prophecy answers two big questions about the central mystery of Desmond Hart while leaving another question to linger. By the end of “In Blood, Truth,” we know that Desmond is the son of Tula Harkonnen and Orry Atreides and that he is burning his enemies with a variation of the Omnius plague.

Prophecy Episode 5 “In Blood, Truth” finally reveals the twisted origins of one Desmond Hart (Travis Fimmel). Is he, as some hardcore Dune fans have speculated, a ghola, or clone, engineered by the Bene Tleilax to be a weapon against the imperium?

All good things must come to an end, and that of course includes the first season of Dune: Prophecy on HBO. After an exciting season that kicked off on Nov. 17, it's time to say farewell to the Sisterhood (hopefully just for now),
