Freight train derails in North Jersey, NJ Transit service blocked
A freight train derailment in North Jersey altered NJ Transit service for Tuesday morning commuters. Cars on a westbound Conrail train tumbled off the tracks just before 7 a.m. between Cranford and Union in Union County, NJ.com reported. About 30 cars derailed, forcing the train to a halt, officials said.

NJ Transit service remains suspended in both directions between Cranford and Newark Penn Station. Passengers can use NJ Transit buses as an alternative.
