Carlos Mendoza wasn’t worried about Juan Soto after the New York Mets' star slugger didn’t homer in his first 15 home games at Citi Field. More importantly, neither was Soto. The Mets' $765 million man hit his first two homers at home on Thursday — but those were the only runs for New York in a 4-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Juan Soto’s homer-less drought at Citi Field is over. And he liked it so much, he did it twice. In his 56th at-bat in his new home, the slugger launched one over the left-field fence for his first Citi Field home run as a Met. It went 391 feet to left-center field. Then, in his next at-bat, he hit another one, 399 feet.

Soto’s solo shots were not enough to prevent a 4-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on a day Mets ace Kodai Senga lasted only four innings and the rest of the offense struggled.
