Toyota pulled back the curtain on the new sixth-generation RAV4 last night, unveiling a heavily revised compact SUV that features a shift to hybrid-only powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid variant.

Hybrid-electric vehicles have largely defined Toyota's approach to electrification thus far, with company executives consistently pledging their support to the gas-electric powertrain — and the new RAV4, which offers both conventional and plug-in hybrid powerplants, is the latest iteration of this promise.

The next-gen RAV4 brings a full hybrid lineup across all trims, a boxy new design, and even a GR-tuned sport version with a ridiculous 320 hp.
