While the Steelers brass came to a consensus decision to sign Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin "led the charge" to acquire the future Hall of Fame quarterback and four-time league MVP, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler .
Russell Wilson, the Steelers’ starter last year, signed with the Giants. Justin Fields, the backup, will start for the Jets. Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and Will Howard are the only quarterbacks on the Steelers’ roster. Howard was a sixth-round pick of the Steelers last month.
Aaron Rodgers will be the fifth quarterback to start for the Steelers since Big Ben retired after the 2021-22 season.
